Statement of Closure
It is with great sadness we begin 2017 by informing you that the Glasgow Rudolf Steiner School and Kindergarten has had to close due to financial reasons following our Christmas break.
The Board of the Glasgow Steiner Community began the 2016-17 academic year optimistic that the School would grow and there has been steady interest particularly for the next academic year and beyond. However as some children left the School due to their personal circumstances our earlier financial projections were no longer valid. It is no longer financially viable to continue running with such low numbers.
The Board is very grateful for to all those who have supported our School and activities. To the parents whose children attended the School: we thank you and your family’s commitment to Steiner education in Glasgow. To our staff, Dave, Marzena, Mira and Gillian: we thank you for providing a nurturing environment for the children. To the many individuals who have worked behind the scenes: we are grateful for your time and dedication.
We kindly request your continued support of the efforts of the Glasgow Steiner Community. The Glasgow Steiner Community will continue to promote Steiner Education in Glasgow. Future events organised by the Glasgow Steiner Community will be advertised via the website, email and our Facebook page and we hope you can support these endeavours.
It is indeed very painful that after some 28 years of Steiner Education in Glasgow, we are having to make this difficult decision, but feel that with enough courage, effort and, ever more necessary today, sufficient financial support, Steiner Education could once more be here to nourish children’s souls; the Glasgow Steiner Community will continue to work hard towards this aim.

We did it- the Lower School is now registered as an independent school with Education Scotland. Still places available for class 2/3.
We are in the final stages of registration with Education Scotland to bring a Steiner Lower School back to Glasgow for 6-12 year olds. In the meantime have a look at our Lower School page with further information about the Glasgow Rudolf Steiner School to come….
Our Kindergarten is now fully REGISTERED! Fantastic news we are all vey excited about. We are now running 5 days per week from 9.30am-1.30pm and are looking into the possibility of after school club and other projects.
We have also had some talented new members join the Board of Trustees.
We have recently had extremely positive meeting with the Care Inspectorate and Education Scotland and are now completing the final stages of our registration with both bodies. We have been told that if we complete the final few tasks (which we are doing now) we will be able to open the Kindergarten fully registered from 27th August 2015 and hopefully s School to follow later in the year. This is exciting news!
We will run from the Scout Hall in Anniesland and the Theosophical Society in Queens Crescent for the next year, then our greatest wish is to find a premises to house the entire School from August 2016. The hunt is on for this perfect place so please get in touch if you have any ideas or suggestions.
Stay tuned for more info shortly…
Exciting times for The Glasgow Steiner Community!
We are now a registered charity, a SCIO. Our objectives are the advancement of education through promoting the principles and methods of Steiner Education to the wider community including parents, teachers, voluntary workers, local authorities and wider community members. Also to provide an education based on the educational principles and methods developed by Rudolf Steiner. If you would like further information or to become a Member of the SCIO please email email@example.com for a form.
We have an application with the Care Inspectorate for Seedlings to become a fully registered 5-day Kindergarten. It was submitted in December and our first visit takes place at the end of February. We hope if all goes well to be registered at the earliest after Easter or at the latest in time for start of term August 2015.
We have decided to register as a School with Education Scotland. We are just at the beginning of the process at the moment and the community is pulling together to make it happen. We hope that in the long term this will grow to become a School which includes Early Years and classes 1 to 6.
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Do you have experience in Property, Fundraising or Publicity? We have Sub-Committes covering these 3 areas which are vital for the growth and development of the School. If you can help please get in touch.
